What you will do in your working day

The Equine daily role will include

  • Mucking out
  • Turning out/bringing in
  • Tacking up and tack cleaning
  • Feeding and filling hay nets
  • Clipping/pulling/plaiting/trimming
  • Bathing and rug changing
  • Schooling and riding for the right candidate
  • First aid
  • Exercising horses from the ground (lunging, horse walking, long reining, pessoa training, etc.)
  • Holding for vet/farrier/dentist

The training you will be getting

  • You will be working towards the Level 2 Equine Groom Apprenticeship Standard with the employer at the employers premises, and supported by Haddon Training
  • You will also be supported in completing Functional Skills at Level 1 and/ or 2 in maths and English if you have not yet achieved a 'Pass' grade

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

  • For the right candidate, there is the possibility of progressing to a Level 3 Senior Equine Groom apprenticeship upon successful completion of Level 2

Things to consider

This role will require outdoor work in all weathers so any candidate must be prepared to do this. Due to the remote location of this employer , candidates must have there own transport or be able to be dropped off at the location.
