What you will do in your working day

  • Creating warm, friendly, and stimulating atmosphere in which the children can develop emotionally, socially, and educationally
  • Under supervision you will provide all aspects of care for children including washing, changing, and feeding
  • Acting as Key Person to a small group of children and recording observations and planning for them
  • Assisting with meeting the personal and emotional needs of individual children
  • Completing work to the desired time frame for your Showcase Training tutor
  • Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
  • Being aware of the nurseries policies and procedures and ensure they are adhered to

The training you will be getting

  • NCFE / CACHE Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Educator
  • Functional Skills: maths and English (Unless exempt)
  • Training completed via work-based visits at the nursery and 4-hour study time provided for coursework
  • Paediatric First Aid qualification

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

Upon completing your apprenticeship, you may be offered a full-time position and additional training.

About the employer

The Daisy Chain at Westbourne is located in the Church Hall at Westbourne Parish Church. The hall was renovated a few years ago and is a really bright and welcoming space for the children to thrive in. The nursery caters for children between the ages of 2 - 5 years. You will also experience working at our Emsworth Day Nursery to ensure that you have a breadth of experience in early years education.
