What you will do in your working day

  • Supervise children during playtime and engage them in learning and play activities

  • Build confidence and develop the ability to work with young children

  • Interact with young children during all their activities to facilitate learning and development

  • Keep daily records and update them as necessary

  • Collaborate with team members to maintain high operational standards in the nursery

  • Ensure the smooth and efficient running of the nursery

  • Receive supervision from a qualified staff member to learn company policies and procedures, including Health and Safety guidelines

  • Maintain cleanliness and tidiness in nursery areas at the end of each day

  • Update paperwork as required

  • Support team members in various childcare tasks to stimulate and nurture children's development and ensure they enjoy their time at the nursery


The training you will be getting

The Cabin Barn Tamar View/Barne Park is looking for a childcare apprentice to join their fantastic team in Barne Barton/St Budeaux.

  • *Level 2 Early Years Practitioner Standard*

Most aspects of the qualification and training will be delivered at your workplace where you will be supported throughout your training by your employer. You will have regular visits every 6 to 12 weeks from your designated assessor who will help you, and monitor your progression throughout your apprenticeship.

As an additional qualification you will also achieve Emergency and Paediatric First Aid, and a Health and Safety Certificate, along with Internet Safety and Safeguarding.

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

When completed the Level 2 qualification, there will be an opportunity to work towards an Advanced Level 3 to further enhance your skills.

About the employer

The Cabin Childcare Centre are run by Karen as the Director and registered person. Karen spends a minimum of one day per week at each setting. She believes in supporting the whole family and working with the wider community to give each child the best start in life. She has worked in the Early Years for over 25 years and holds a BA (Hons) in Early Childhood Studies and has Early Years Teacher Status. Each of the day nurseries has a dedicated Manager responsible for the day to day running. They work to ensure that the staff and children are happy, parents are supported and all policies and practices are adhered to. Each Manager is trained as a Senior Designated Safeguarding Officer. The Cabin is a strong team, who believe in helping each other and most importantly, helping all of our children and families. The staff have many years experience looking after children in all age groups, including their own. It is The Cabin policy to employ staff who are dedicated to the job and highly motivated. All staff hold current first aid certificates and have various qualifications including NNEB, BTEC Diploma and NVQ levels 2 and 3 in Childcare and Degrees in Early Years. All staff are fully DBS checked. They feel it is important to encourage people into their profession and therefore, employ trainees who are looking to gain qualifications as well as valuable experience. The staff also have a wide variety of training including providing care for children with Special Educational Needs (SEND) and the nursery is committed to being an inclusive provider. *Prior Apprentices* The Cabin Day Nursery have successfully recruited many and trained apprentices previously. They are very keen on training their apprentices at level 2 and then encouraging them to progress on to their advanced Level 3 apprenticeship.
