What you will do in your working day

As a Mechanical Apprentice you will work alongside an experienced tradesperson to gain experience in the following areas:

  • Work indoors and outdoors and be prepared to sometimes work at height
  • Work with little or no supervision, relying on their own initiative
  • Be prepared to travel away from home
  • Develop good working relationships with people
  • Read both building and engineering drawings
  • Understand pipework installation drawings and schematics
  • Select (within limits) materials and equipment
  • Test and commission mechanical installations
  • Diagnose and rectify faults
  • Write reports

The training you will be getting

You will work towards achieving Building Services Level 3, Leeds College of Building will deliver this through 2 week block releases for all our BSE Apprentices.

All apprentices must achieve the Level 3 Heating and Ventilating Craftsperson qualification prior to undertaking the end-point synoptic assessment with an independent assessment organisation.

Things to consider

Driving license is not necessary but would be an advantage. Leeds College of building will support the Apprenticeship, Apprentices will attend LCB on a 2 week block release every 5/6 weeks.
