You will be responsible for supporting children’s learning and development and effectively delivering the Foundation Stage guidance within a dynamic curriculum ensuring that the individual needs, characteristics and interests of children in the setting are valued.

What you will do in your working day

  • Learn daily routine and why it is so
  • Understand safeguarding and health and safety practices
  • Learn about the individual children
  • Become a familiar adult for the parents
  • Undertake care duties
  • Understand behavioural expectations
  • Begin to understand the EYFS and statutory Framework
  • Start to complete observations and assessments
  • Initiate the changes in the daily routine
  • Share information with parents about their children
  • Become a Key Person for 1 or 2 children
  • Start to assess children's development and behaviour
  • Planning adult-directed activities and enhancements to the environment
  • Become an integral part of developing the curriculum according to the children we have
  • Using knowledge/ research to impact policy and practice
  • Have effective relationships with parents where knowledge about the child from both sides is imparted

About the employer

Small, rural preschool, with only 20 children max per day of 2, 3 and 4 -year-olds. We are based in one classroom on a school site. Access to all forest school and outdoor spaces which is quite vast. We hold a great reputation and a good Ofsted.
