What you’ll be doing

  • Martin-Baker is the world’s leading manufacturer of ejection seats, helping to protect aircrew in the world’s most advanced military aircraft. Our mission is simple – to save aircrew lives.
  • Join us on this mission through one of our Apprenticeship Programmes, starting Autumn 2024.

As well as achieving a qualification, you’ll learn about Martin-Baker through exposure to various Engineering & Manufacturing disciplines, fully supported by your team. These disciplines could include:

  • Machining,
  • Assembly,
  • Tool Room,
  • Design,
  • Environmental Test

You could learn:

  • Use of mills and lathes,
  • pipe bending,
  • riveting,
  • injection moulding,
  • deburring,
  • inspection techniques,
  • CAD modelling,
  • and so much more!

The training you will be getting

We’ll also provide the time needed for your commitments with training providers so that you successfully achieve all aspects of your apprenticeship.

You will obtain a Higher L4 Apprenticeship as an Engineering Technician from Uxbridge College (HCUC) through college one day a week.

At Martin-Baker people have gone on to specialise in fields as varied as procurement, explosives, research & design, and CNC programming.

The pathway that each candidate will follow will be discussed upon interview and selected accordingly, based upon previous educational qualifications/experience.

Mandatory qualifications:

  • L4 HNC in Engineering or Manufacturing disciplines that fully align with the KSBs of the standard
  • Aerospace mandatory qualification: Level 2 Diploma in Aerospace and Aviation Engineering (Foundation Competence)
  • Aerospace mandatory qualification Level 4 Diploma in Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing (Development Competence)

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

There are various exciting opportunities open to apprentices at the end of their four year scheme. At Martin-Baker people have gone on to specialise in fields as varied as procurement, explosives, research & design, and CNC programming.
