What you will do in your working day

Working alongside our head engineer, you will develop a comprehensive working knowledge of all elements of vehicle installation and preparation including electrical, fabrication & design through to preparation/testing for use or sale.

You will work for an ever-evolving business while carrying out varied and enjoyable work with achievable goals. It is a rewarding role, with the opportunity to learn a vast range of skills and and engineering techniques.

Duties will include:

  • Observing and repeating tasks to a high standard of workmanship.
  • Maintenance of tooling and safety equipment as necessary.
  • Vehicle preparation and testing
  • Maintaining workshop cleanliness
  • Basic mechanical work
  • Use of small tools, hand tools and cutting equipment

The training you will be getting

The qualification the apprentice will achieve in this apprenticeship is the Level 2 Engineering Operative apprenticeship standard.
Day release will involve attending SBC Training in Shrewsbury one day a week.

Skills, Knowledge and Behaviours – Learners and employers will have a range of options to select from that cover each knowledge module of the apprenticeship standard.

Functional Skills - These provide practical skills to help gain the most out of work, education and everyday life. Learners will complete written and online tests.

End point assessment - The End Point Assessment is the final stage of the apprenticeship. It comprises written and practical tests as well as a professional dialogue and interview
