    Salary included above is for the 1st 12 months whilst on programme. After month 12, this salary increases. If you are aged 21 or over on your first anniversary, your salary will increase in line with national minimum wage.

What you will do in your working day

Duties may include: ​

  • Working in our manufacturing sites you will gain knowledge and understanding of our products, production process, quality control, logistics and complaint handling ​
  • You’ll have the opportunity to develop your business knowledge and share any best practices you observe. We’ll value you as a fresh pair of eyes to support the site teams in improving quality, processes and production, we want you to build the confidence to challenge, think about new ways of working and help our business to improve! ​
  • You’ll support Managers to manage their teams and functions whilst being involved in production
  • Plenty of chance for practical experience on site, where you can make your mark and become a vital part of the team, actively participating in the operational and production work at our plants​
  • You will also be able to learn about breakdowns and planned maintenance work on the equipment and assets​
  • Linking between the different functions within the business, bringing teams together​
  • You will play a key role in important projects to help improve the way we work and deliver added value ​
  • You’ll play an important role in driving a positive culture, challenging us when something doesn’t feel right, or where there are opportunities to improve our safety performance ​Taking pride in all work completed and being determined to succeed!​

The training you will be getting

  • The apprentice will receive a Level 5 qualification in Mineral Products Technician.
  • The training at the University of Derby will be a block release.
  • The on the job training will be given on various sites within Tarmac.

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

Potential to become a supervisor once qualified.

Things to consider

Working outside, during all seasons of the calendar. Physical role with travel included. Age: 18 due to use of plant equipment. Driving Licence: needed to travel between sites.
