What you will do in your working day

The successful applicant will work in all areas of our administration team, under the supervision of the team leaders, which includes reception, secretarial and data entry duties to include (but not limited to):

  • Meet and greet patients and visitors
  • Keep main reception area tidy
  • Answer and make telephone calls and deal with enquiries
  • Make appointments
  • Pass on patient requests to clinicians
  • Filing
  • Emails
  • Sorting correspondence and forwarding to correct recipient
  • Typing letters
  • Liaising with hospitals and other medical and non-medical professionals
  • Coding incoming patient letters onto a clinical system
  • Taking payments
  • Patient registrations and deductions

The training you will be getting

  • The learner will be studying the Business Administrator Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard qualification
  • Day release to West Suffolk College
  • Functional skills will be studied if equivalent qualifications are not held

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

  • The practice encourages further development to all employees, including previous apprentices who have gone on to progress into other roles at the practice after completing their apprenticeships dependent on the business needs at that time

The practice is open between 8am and 6.30pm Monday to Friday. The practice is in a rural setting with limited public transport so applicants will need to consider how they will get to and from work. Employees working at the practice can not also be registered at the practice.
