What you will do in your working day

We are looking for Care Assistants to work in a rewarding role delivering person-centred care to our residents. You will be responsible for helping the staff to provide high quality care for our residents.

The primary responsibility is to assist residents who need help with activities of daily living in accordance with their individual care plans, under the supervision of Senior Staff. Full training will be provided on all aspects, your first 2 weeks will also be spent shadowing and observing senior members of staff.

Experience in care is not necessary. If you are compassionate, patient and caring, hard-working, resilient and organised with good observational skills and a good sense of humour, then care is the career for you. 

Your responsibilities include but are not limited too;

  • Providing aspects of personal care to our residents
  • Assisting our residents in maintaining their personal hygiene
  • Providing support at mealtimes for our residents
  • General cleaning & upkeep of the home
  • Supporting senior careers in writing daily care activities
  • Moving and handling immobile residents
  • Being a companion to the residents in the home
  • Continence management (helping individuals who no longer have control of their bladder and bowel)
  • Cooking and housekeeping

The training you will be getting

This involves regular catch-ups, check-in emails and calls. Your employer will agree to give you 20% of your working hours solely towards your study.

This will give you every chance to achieve the highest grade possible! On completion of this 12 month apprenticeship you will have gained; Adult Care Worker - Level 2 Apprenticeship.

Individuals without level 1 English and maths will need to achieve this level and take the test for level 2 English and maths prior to taking the end-point assessment.

Things to consider

Working hours Please note that anyone under the age of 18 can only work a maximum of 40 hours per week. Any role which exceeds these hours should be amended accordingly, to fall in line with the legislation.
