What you will do in your working day

With guidance and support from the IT & Communications Manager, your duties will include: 

  • Responding to and resolving IT users’ problems 
  • Overseeing third party IT service providers, vendors and contractors, ensuring the expected quality of service is delivered 
  • Documenting and updating standard operating procedures in line with company best practice 
  • Assist with the installation of new hardware and software and help train employees on its use 
  • Co-ordinate with internal Teams to fulfil project requirements 
  • Write and deploy IT system enhancements as appropriate 
  • Understand Team/departmental requirements and how to report relevant data 
  • Offer suggestions for possible upgrades and changes within the IT department 
  • Strict adherence to confidentiality 
  • Understand and adhere to Company Policy and Health and Safety requirements 
  • Any other duties deemed relevant to the role 

The training you will be getting

  • The apprentice will be working towards the Level 3 Information Communications Technician Apprenticeship Standard
  • College attendance will be at the Colchester Institute - Colchester Campus one day per week during term time

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

  • Ongoing employment with AGM.  Following successful completion of the apprenticeship, a permanent contract will be provided

Things to consider

This role is primarily based in Copford, Colchester, although travel to other offices and training venues will be required, paid for by the Company. A degree of flexibility is required, and overtime may be required on occasions (provided the individual is above the age of 18 years).
