What you will do in your working day

You will assist the data processing team in providing support on the processing of data from the Disease Specific Programmes (DSPs), whilst gaining a good understanding of all stages of the data processing lifecycle and a basic knowledge of software used to process and quality check research data.

Our data focuses on patients in the real world, outside the scope of clinical trials with key focus on providing quality data.  Data includes, amongst other things, treatment history and key indicators on the patients’ quality of life.

Bio-Pharmaceutical and healthcare organisations use our data sets to further understand the disease area. Our research teams often publish the outcomes to aid the development of treatment as well as for physical education.

Your personal development plan will include on the job experience and focused training on data processing techniques.

Day to day tasks include:

  • Generating and developing reports
  • Monitoring the progress of fieldwork
  • Liaising with research teams
  • Assisting research teams with analysis
  • Attending internal meetings
  • Introduction to programming syntax and its application within data processing
  • Production of databases with supervision
  • Assisting with the quality control of data
  • Input into ideas for improving efficiencies within the data processing team

The training you will be getting

Apprentices attend Manchester Metropolitan University for one day a week during the academic year, over a period of four years. Teaching is delivered face to face one day a week during the academic year.

Upon successful completion of the programme, participants will achieve a BSc (Hons) Digital and Technology Solutions degree by Manchester Metropolitan University, as well as a Level 6 degree apprenticeship qualification.

Things to consider

For at least the first 3-6 months the role will require the candidate to be in person in the office, afterwards we would look at Hybrid working.
