What you will do in your working day

Main Duties:

  • Ensure that the plant operates safely Identify and implement actions to optimise the operations of the plants
  • Deal with ad hoc breakdowns
  • Complete all preventative/planned maintenance
  • Attend College when required
  • Carry out preventative and corrective maintenance on equipment.
  • To ensure all machinery and services are in working order and ready for production after maintenance periods.
  • Ensure the plant operates safely.
  • Liaise with Store Manager/Supervisor daily.
  • Record keeping of engineering tasks via the MaintainX system.
  • Complete works to a high standard.
  • Deal with workloads and breakdowns in a timely manner.
  • Work with and learn from existing site teams
  • To get involved with all areas of engineering tasks to further your own site knowledge.
  • To fulfil educational requirements as part of the Apprenticeship scheme.

Desirable if the learner has:

  • Flexible approach to shifts (including occasional weekend works) IT SYSTEMS
  • General Knowledge of MS Office, outlook and some web based application exposure
  • Adhere to Company H&S policies and procedures at all times
  • Report any breaches of H&S via the Companies reporting system & directly to the Store Manager/Supervisor
  • Good understanding of the requirements to work in a safe manner and mitigation of risks whenever needed

The training you will be getting

  • The learner will be studying the Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard qualification.
  • Day release to the NCTC.
  • Functional skills will be studied if equivalent qualifications are not held.

Things to consider

You may be required to undertake other duties from time to time as we may reasonable require which fit within your skills and experience. Work outside, can be quite dusty. Location of company is rural so please carefully consider travel options. Is comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces.

About the employer

We are a grain storage facility. A cooperative owned by our farmer members. We take in grain, store, condition it, dry it if necessary and keep until it is sold. We have 4 sites Balsham, Linton, Kettering and Stratford Upon Avon. The Balsham site is the biggest and stores 250,000 tonnes of grain. The grain comes in on lorries and is weighed and tested, then unloaded and moved to the correct silo for the grade and stored at the correct temperature.
