What you will do in your working day

Daily yard duties to include:

  • Looking after the horses to a high standard
  • Possibility of grooming at shows for the right person and once trained
  • Opportunity to learn from the best
  • Riding of green youngsters 

The training you will be getting

Equine Groom Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard:

  • All training will be carried out at the employer's premises, supported by the employer, and carried out by Haddon Training
  • Functional Skills in English and maths if required

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

  • Upon completion of the apprenticeship, the successful candiate may have the opportunity to enrol onto the advanced (level 3) apprenticeship or to join The Billy Stud as a full-time member of the team.

The Billy Stud is a joint venture between William Funnell and Donal Barnwell, together they have developed a hugely successful breeding program that has taken British bred horses to the forefront of modern day sport. Set in the Surrey hills, the Stud boasts one of the largest purpose built equestrian facilities of any private yard in the UK, set over two farms in Forest Green, Surrey.
