What you will do in your working day

The Pipefitter works with various pipe materials such as ferrous and non-ferrous metals, plastics and composites. These materials can vary from 6mm to 1000 in diameter and from 5 mm up to 75 mm in thickness dependent upon the content of the pipes and the operating pressures of the systems. The role requires the knowledge and skills to implement the specified method of jointing required within often complex piping systems. The Pipefitter must be able to work autonomously and as part of a team ensuring compliance with health, safety and environmental, processes and procedures.
You will be expected to take responsibility for the quality and accuracy of your work and be proactive in finding solutions to problems and identifying improvements to processes.

The training you will be getting

Engineering technician Level 3 Standard under the Mechatronics Maintenance Technician pathway.

Includes the following qualifications;

  • Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence)
  • Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence) – Mechatronics Maintenance Technician
  • Plus one of the following

    • Level 3 Diploma in Engineering Technology (QCF) – for starts up to June 2017 only

    • Level 3 Extended Diploma in Engineering Technologies (QCF) - for starts up to June 2017 only

    • Level 3 Diploma or Extended Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge) – for all starts from 1st July 2017
