What you will do in your working day

You will work to drawings, manufacturer's manuals, schedules to comply with legislation with a particular attention to detail. Working as part of a team you will be required to demonstrate openness and collaboration in your work.

You will learn how to operate plant equipment, working with Electrical Distribution Low Voltage (LV) and High Voltage (HV), PLC controls, heavy machinery on equipment like, CNC machines, lathes and cranes.  

Small machinery like drills, grinders, hand tools, lighting, power supplies along with welding machine validation and carrying out all work in line with BAE systems safe system of work. 

You will spend 12 months at Furness College, and the following year join our team of maintenance professionals to gain hands on experience and understanding of our wide range of equipment across site.  

You will be moved around the different areas of the department to gain a full understanding of the maintenance requirements in BAE Systems.
