What you will do in your working day

  • Experienced rider required to join the friendly team at Gallagher Racing
  • They are a small, successful, family run, flat racing stables in the Cotswolds

As the successful applicant, you should be;

  • Expecting to ride 2 to 4 horses a day
  • Mucking out
  • Get horses ready for riding out
  • Tacking up
  • Looking after tack
  • All general horse care

The training you will be getting

  • You will be working towards the level 2 Equine Groom - Racing pathway apprenticeship
  • You will complete all training at the employers premises, with the employer and supported Haddon Training
  • HaddonTraining will also support you in completing Functional Skills maths and/ or English if required

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

  • For the right candidate, there may be the opportunity to progress on to the Level 3 Senior Equine Groom apprenticeship

Things to consider

Experience with racehorses is not essential but preferred. You must be able to ride at a high and confident level. The applicant must also have the physical fitness required to ride racehorses. There is accommodation available on site, or you must be able to get to/ from the yard each day for the split shift pattern.
