What you will do in your working day
- Looking after children’s day-to-day physical needs, such as feeding, nappy changing, toilet learning and administering first aid
- Providing a range of fun and stimulating activities, from reading stories to messy play
- Developing close attachments and fostering trust in the children in your care
- Safeguarding children and reporting any concerns
- Monitoring children’s progress, keeping records and reporting back to parents
- At Playhouse Day Nursery we also have a Breakfast and Afterschool club for Early years and Primary age children
- You may also therefore be responsible for preparing breakfast or teatime snack, supervising children’s independent play and providing fun activities to engage children of various ages
- After daily sessions all practitioners are required to work together to ensure the nursery is clean and ready for the following day so you will be asked to complete cleaning duties such as moping the floor
The training you will be getting
- The Early Years Skills Tutors will visit you regularly at your school to observe, coach and teach you skills, behaviours, and knowledge in line with the apprenticeship standard specifications
- Apprentices must successfully complete a Level 3 Early Years Educator qualification. Please refer to the DfE list of approved EYE qualifications:
- Apprentices must successfully complete a first aid qualification
- You will complete an End Point Assessment [EPA] conducted by an independent end point assessment organisation. They make the deciding decision on your final grade
