What you will do in your working day

• A mix of 1st and 2nd fix joinery
• Measuring, marking out, fitting, cutting, splicing, finishing, positioning and securing of timber
• Installation of window frames, doors, joists, trusses, roof with gables, roof verges and eaves, including roof components
• Using appropriate hand and power tools
• Maintaining high levels of health and safety at all times, ensuring regulations are adhered to
• Maintain a clear and tidy workspace and ensure that waste materials are disposed of, in accordance with current legislation

The training you will be getting

The successful candidate will work towards a Level 2 Carpentry and Joinery qualification, which will take 24 months, plus an End Point Assessment

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

Experienced joiners can become supervisors, project managers or team leaders and earn a higher salary. You could move into different areas within construction such as estimating or contract management or specialise in an area like heritage restoration or building stage sets.
