What you will do in your working day

Our client provides a comprehensive accounting and taxation service for limited companies, sole traders, partnerships and individuals. Their portfolio ranges from smaller sole traders to multi-million-pound turnover companies, with a tailored service for each client.

With an emphasis on assisting small, family businesses, they pride themselves on understanding the financial challenges of running such a business and they are now keen for an Accounting Apprentice to join the team. 

Key responsibilities:

Initially, the job duties are:

  • Payroll
  • Construction Industry Scheme
  • Assisting with VAT returns
  • Learning and using Xero accounting software
  • Learning and using Hubdoc software
  • Learning and using IRIS accounting software
  • Scanning post
  • Answering the phone
  • Assisting clients with queries
  • Phone calls to HMRC for queries

Progressing to:

  • Cash accounting
  • Personal Tax returns
  • Preparation of Accounts
  • Accounting journals
  • Pension declarations
  • Filing Accounts at Companies House
  • Filing Corporation Tax returns
  • Full training to be provided for Payroll, Accounting and Tax related tasks

Person specification:

  • Must have at least a 5 in GCSE Maths and English Language or equivalent
  • Full UK Drivers Licence would be useful
  • Professional appearance and conduct
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Good communication skills
