What you will do in your working day
As an apprentice you will be part of a small team working in the office assisting with quoting and CAD drawings. You will learn about wiring switchgear and control panels in our workshop. Full training will be given.
Your main duties are:
Help produce quotes for panels and on-site works
Help design panels
Assemble/construct LV panels and HVAC systems
Help install or modify electrical panels in the workshop or on site
Carry out duties deemed necessary for the smooth running of the business
General
- 39.5 hrs per week. Overtime possible.
- 20 days holiday starting plus bank holidays, increasing to 25 days with service.
- One day per week paid to attend college as part of your apprenticeship. Our apprentices have previously taken their courses at Suffolk New College, Ipswich.
- Position can start immediately or after final school/college term has finished. We will also consider apprentices part way through their Electrical Installation course.
- Three month probation period.
- No on-site parking.
The training you will be getting
On programme learning: Installation Electrician and Maintenance Electrician Standard Electrotechnical Level 3
English and maths functional skills (if required)
End-point assessment: Delivered by NET Progression: Installation Electrician/Self-employed/Higher level Apprenticeship and Management.
College Attendance: Training for all job specific tasks will be given. In addition the apprentice will have the support and guidance of a qualified assessor from the college, who will make on-site visits every 6-8 weeks. There may be the occasional need to attend either the Ipswich or Rural Suffolk (Otley) campus for short training courses and tests.
What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship
By the end of the apprenticeship you will have satisfied the requirements for registration as EngTech by the Engineering Council.
