About the employer

The Harris Federation is an education charity led and run by teachers. We opened our first school in 1991 and now run 52 primary and secondary academies in London and Essex, and train thousands of teachers per year from the Harris Federation and beyond. At Harris we seek to operate in areas with high levels of socio-economic disadvantage. In these places a high quality education is fundamental to the future success of the children we serve. We aim to disrupt the status quo, and free-up our teachers and leaders to focus on one thing and one thing only, providing an exceptional education for every child, where all children thrive and learn through engagement with an exciting, ambitious curriculum underpinned by excellent teaching. Our vision is to maximise the support and challenge for our academies by operating them so that they become more than the sum of their parts. We are a Federation rather than a chain and the autonomy of our Principals and governing bodies is at the heart of our success.
