What you will do in your working day
Duties:
- To provide a dynamic and proactive response to engineering breakdowns, in order to maximise production and minimise unplanned plant downtime
- To communicate on a daily basis with the engineering team to ensure established priorities are dealt with in a co-ordinated approach
- To communicate at all times with production and shift managers to ensure priorities are actioned accordingly and update on the status of plant
- To maintain correct health and safety standards at all times, following company policies and procedures and taking a generally responsible and proactive approach to safety at all times
- To work on small projects and installations as required
- To assist project teams as required
- To undertake existing planned maintenance routines and identify new routines that will maximise equipment availability
- To participate in all aspects of maintenance work associated with plant shutdowns in all areas of production
- To work flexibly and respond to the changing demands of the work adapting to new work routines and practices accordingly
Key competencies will be:
- Ability to demonstrate a genuine interest in C&I and engineering
- Problem solving/improvement driven attitude
- A flexible attitude to a range of tasks and work situations
- A clear and confident communicator
- Ability to work alone or as part of a team
The training you will be getting
- The learner will be studying the Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard qualification
- Day release to West Suffolk College
- Functional Skills in maths and English will be studied, if equivalent qualifications are not held
What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship
- On satisfactory completion of training, depending on performance, attainment, attitude and if there is a business need for an engineer an offer of employment may be made
- We are particularly looking for future control and instrumentation or condition monitoring team members. Follow on FE training may be available for the right candidate
