Increasing to £20,309 in year 2, £23,722 in year 3 and £25,264 in year 4. Higher rates are applied to those aged 21 and over. You’ll have the opportunity to benefit from an annual bonus, linked to company performance, of up to £4000*

You will be required to work typical site-based hours at Sellafield Ltd, which is 7:30-15:40 Monday to Friday. However you may be requested to start earlier and work hours. TBC.

What you will do in your working day
- You will be training to undertake routine maintenance and fault finding on plant and equipment where you will use tools, test equipment and documentation to undertake these maintenance tasks.
- You may at times need to wear personal protective equipment, necessary for work in active areas (such as full PVC suiting, gloves and respirators) and work in confined spaces or at heights.
- As an integral part of your apprenticeship your progress will be monitored and assessed against the National Apprenticeship Standard requirements. You will compile an evidence folder, demonstrating your areas of learning with accredited certificates of completion for elements of your training.
- Within the last six months of your apprenticeship you will undertake a knowledge and skills assessment by an independently appointed organisation, where you will be expected to clearly demonstrate your ability to meet the Apprenticeship.
The training you will be getting
1st & 2nd Years – training is delivered at the local training provider, gen2, based at Lillyhall, Workington.
3rd & 4th Years – Site placements at Sellafield site, cumbria, in different operating units throughout the business.
You will obtain the following qualifications:
- Level 3 ST0154 apprenticeship – Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician
- Level 3 BTEC Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering
- Level 2 Award for Nuclear Industry Awareness (ANIA)
