What you will do in your working day

For the successful candidate, duties will include:

  • All yard duties
  • Competition preperation
  • Land/yard maintainance
  • Insight into how a yard business is ran

The training you will be getting

  • All training for the Level 2 Equine Groom apprenticeship is undertaken at the employer's premises, with the support of the employer, and delivered by Haddon Training
  • Functional Skills in maths and English if needed 

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

  • Permanant employement upon completion for the right candidate and possibility of training toward BHS exams

Things to consider

Possible livery for own horse. No accommodation available. It is essential that you have some experience of horses and need to be competent in handling them. There is an opportunity to ride/exercise horses but this is not required for the role. Reliability is paramount as well as a keen-ness to learn and a genuine passion and love for horses.

About the employer

DLS Equestrian, run in association with Woodville Livery, is an all-inclusive full livery service run by eventer Donna Smith which caters for up to 20 horses. Lovely yard, with lots of further opportunities for a Level 2 or 3 apprentice. Donna Smith is a List 3 British Dressage Judge, BHSAI & Event/ Dressage Rider. Donna was also previously an event groom to CCI***** level.
