What you will do in your working day

The apprenticeship will involve the day-to-day maintenance and repair of the school site. This can be routine maintenance through to emergency repairs using a wide range of trade skills.

You will work alongside other maintenance staff and skilled trades to complete the jobs. The apprenticeship will provide you with a great opportunity to learn and will give you valuable experience across a number of areas:

  • Identify risks and hazards and work to Health & Safety regulations.
  • Complete maintenance and repairs using job sheets or job specifications.
  • Use correct hand or power tools for the task.
  • Clear away and dispose of waste safely.
  • Use carpentry and joinery skills to compete minor repairs such as window and door frames.
  • Painting and decorating a range of surfaces.
  • Minor plastering repairs.
  • Plumbing and drainage repairs, identify faults.
  • Use a variety of materials for wall and floor tiling.

The training you will be getting

Level 2 Property Maintenance Operative standard.

This will be a blended delivery, a mixture of Microsoft Teams and face to face. All training will take place on site and within your working hours.

Ixion Holdings will complete functional skills where necessary and will ensure Health & Safety, British Values and Equality & Diversity is embedded throughout the course.

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

This role leads naturally into other fields such as facilities services, individual trades, building service engineer and facilities management.
