What you will do in your working day
An Accounts Apprentice will be required to take care of administrative tasks within the department. They will also be responsible for maintaining accurate and detailed customer records and creating new customer accounts, building a good rapport with clients and providing the accounting team with relevant information.
The apprentice will be completing daily and monthly bank reconciliations, payment runs to creditors, preparing and entering journals into the system, and supporting the preparation of management accounts and month-end duties, as well as posting both sales and creditors' invoicing.
As you become more qualified and comfortable within your new role, your takes will increase and you will become familiar with the following:
- Opening new accounts/chasing trade references, daily invoicing, and monthly statements
- Allocating payments
- Answering customer queries by phone & email
- Providing PODs, copy invoices, etc.
- Chasing money and credit control
- Managing purchase invoicings
The training you will be getting
You will attend Exeter College's Future Skills Centre for 1 day a week during term time. You will also be provided with practical training whilst at work.
What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship
There may be the opportunity to progress onto the Level 4 accountancy Apprenticeship and natural progression through the company for the right candidate.
