What you will do in your working day

  • Maintain excellent standards of personal, food and kitchen hygiene
  • Ensure compliance to procedures, menu specifications and recipes
  • Produce food meeting portion controls, and budgetary constraints
    adapting and produce dishes to meet special dietary, religious and allergenic requirements

Things to consider

This is a lively, creative and busy environment a lot of the time. Opening hours are 1pm - 2am as this is a pub/club. The apprentice will not be required to work late hours unless they wanted to be help with the music event side, on occasion only.

About the employer

We are an award winning pub with creativity and community at the heart of everything we do. As well as serving delicious food and tasty local ales we are a live music venue, club space and home to many community projects. Check out our social media and listings to find out exactly what's on, but you'll normally find:  Tuesdays is curry club where we do pay as you can food, Wednesdays you can usually catch live music. Thursdays there is a club night from 9pm and Fridays we have pizza and then either a club night or live music. Saturdays you can often find day parties, with performers, music, sound systems or a BBQ - depending on what the event is. On Sundays we have delicious Sunday Roasts with guest DJs on rotation. As well as hosting events and workshops, we also have band rehearsal rooms, recording studio and community warm hub all in the heart of the Oxford Road Corridor. The Old Abbey Taphouse is the flagship venue of STEAM MCR, a community interest company creating safe spaces to relax, create and learn something new.
