What you will do in your working day
- All trainees will complete a common first year in manufacturing operations which will include work based learning to develop the skills necessary to achieve performance levels in the production of components and assemblies consistent with the required quality standards and the Master Production Schedule
- It is anticipated that during the second and third year, trainees will define their core skills area within the spectrum of manufacturing activities. The skill areas anticipated to be required are Mechanical assembly, electrical assembly and manufacturing machining. Skill definition will be based on trainee performance during their first year, and matched to the business requirements at that time
The training you will be getting
- As an Engineering Apprentice you will undertake a Level 3 Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician Apprenticeship at Trafford College, working towards a Level 3 BTEC technical certificate
- For the duration of this 3-4 year programme you will be given one day per week to complete your academic studies, with the other four days applying your learning whilst working alongside Thales engineers
- At the end of the programme there may be scope to progress onto higher level learning for those who demonstrate the required aptitude and commitment
What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship
Will qualify with a Level 3 BTEC technical certificate and be a permanent engineer with the Thales business.
