What you will do in your working day

The chosen apprentice will be mostly based at our onsite warehouse. Here they will work closely with our warehouse team to complete a range of group and solo jobs. Due to offering all services including documents, customs and insurances in-house, office / admin jobs relating to supply chain will also be included in your role.

Main Duties Include:

  • Checking in Cargo
  • Transporting Cargo around the warehouse
  • Weighing and Measuring Cargo
  • General Admin
  • Implementing organisation and cleanliness
  • Loading and Unloading containers
  • Completing Manifests and Documents
  • Repacking and Labelling goods
  • Following first aid and Health Safety procedures

The training you will be getting

The successful candidate will study a Level 2 Supply Chain Warehouse Operative qualification. Maths and English will be studied as part of the apprenticeship, if required. The online aspect provided by The Source will be completed during working hours with the help an assessor and everyone here at Team Essex.

As time progresses the candidate will receive more freedom and more independent jobs - encouraging self-training. Fork Lift, IT, Health and Safety, Hazardous and First Aid training will also become available.

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

This apprenticeship will help you to achieve a Level 2 qualification in Supply Chain Warehouse Operative. Depending on the recruit, potential progression could also include a full time salary role after your apprenticeship has finished.

BSC Essex Freight is a UK freight forwarding company with high focus on the West Indies/Caribbean. In Sheffield we have our own warehouse onsite. Containers are loaded and unloaded daily with goods travelling to worldwide destinations. As well as containers we offer air and aourier services creating a variety of tasks and job roles.
