What you will do in your working day

This four-year apprenticeship programme is a fantastic opportunity for you to join a growing digital systems team and gain hands on experience within the Information Technology and Information Systems sector with a major defence contractor. The Information Management (IM) Academy will give you experience of operational and service delivery across information technology infrastructure including networks and enterprise applications.

Our operational teams cover everything from user engagement through to cyber security threat detection and prevention. We use ITIL standards for our operational management and align with standards such as the UK government Cyber Security Essentials Plus scheme, and you will have the opportunity to develop an understanding of these and begin to apply them in the work place. In this area you would be involved in operations and service delivery for the enterprise server infrastructure and desktop ecosystem including performance monitoring and capacity management.

The training you will be getting

You will learn with our supplier who are leaders in this sector who offer a blended online and residential learning programme alongside on the job learning. There will be the opportunity for follow on study at Level 3 or Level 4 for a specialist route or to complete the rest of the apprenticeship with on the job learning.

The IM Academy approach will offer you experience of Digital Infrastructure; Digital solutions and Operations Management across the directorate before confirming the role you will take when you complete the scheme.

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

The most exciting aspect of this opportunity is the future technology that we will use in the business – you’ll start your career looking at what we currently use here and now, but through your apprenticeship you’ll be gaining experience which will help you to provide the systems of the future
