What you will do in your working day

Year one:

  • Under instruction and within training guidelines, operate/train in the use of Cullum machinery/ equipment in order to gain a good knowledge of machine capacities and metal working techniques.
  • Learn and develop plating skills and increase knowledge and understanding of fabrication processes.
  • To carry out instructions from the Technical Service Manager and Team Leaders in all aspects of the role and produce a consistently high standard of work, meeting the targets and deadlines set by manager and relevant training facilitators

Years two and three:

  • Preparation of engineering calculations over a number of disciplines in support of detail design schemes
  • Participate in research and development activities
  • Aid with the carrying out of site survey activities
  • Produce sketch drawings of design concepts in sufficient detail to enable production of detail design definition drawings
  • Use IT packages effectively in the course of engineering activities (excel, word, Mathcad, CAD, PDM, PLM, etc.)
  • Interpret engineering drawings
  • Interpret and implement engineering specifications and standards
  • Self-development to meet new requirements
  • Provide progress status reports to line management on a regular basis and work to achieve or improve company and customer objectives of program, cost and quality
  • Hazard identification and risk reduction

The training you will be getting

  • An apprenticeship allows you to earn a wage, gain valuable work experience and industry specific competence
  • You will be expected to work towards the Engineering Technician Level 3, with support from your employer and the Chesterfield College Group

You will also recieve:

  • Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering
  • Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Engineering Manufacturing
