What you will do in your working day
- A central part of the job is learning and using 2D and 3D software; Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Building Information Modelling (BIM) packages such as Revit and AutoCAD to create technical drawings, models and designs
- Apply appropriate civil engineering principles, techniques, and methods, including mathematical, scientific, and technical know-how, to support the delivery of civil engineering projects
- Plan, carry out and manage your own work in line with quality assurance procedures
- Plan, undertake and review their own professional competence, regularly updating and reviewing their Continuing Professional Development (CPD) to improve performance
- The role will include working closely with senior colleagues to develop and learn new skills
- Working on 3D BIM models and producing high quality models and drawings
- Working closely with members of the design team and engineers to help produce drawings, designs and BIM models
- Understanding, reading and producing CAD drawings
- Updating drawings and models based on comments from senior designers
- Assist in preparing the designs, specifications, etc, for projects
- Co-ordinating with the other disciplines like architects, surveyors, contractors, etc.
- Presenting design information in project meetings
- Aiding in the production of clear and well-presented presentations, reports, specifications, and other engineering documentation
- Assessing, testing and implementing innovative new software
- Maintaining records and registers of deliverables
- Operating in accordance with the Company's health, safety, environmental and quality standards
The training you will be getting
This training will be delivered in partnership with a local College on day release.
Completion of this apprenticeship will award you with a Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Diploma in Civil Engineering (603/1217/8) as well as the opportunity to progress to higher level qualifications and apply for industry body membership.
What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship
It is expected that upon completion apprentices will progress and undertake the Level 6 Civil Engineering Degree Apprenticeship.
