What you will do in your working day

  • Supporting the kitchen in providing the culinary offer by preparing, cooking and finishing a range of food items whilst rotating around each section of the kitchen
  • Ensuring the quality of the food items produced meet brand, organisational and legislative requirements including the completion of food safety management documentation
  • Receiving, checking and correctly storing deliveries as well as checking and reporting food items and stock levels
  • Contributing to improving the culinary offer of the company
  • Preparing, cooking and finishing food items in line with relevant legislation
  • Following organisational brand standards and recipe specifications including portion control and waste management
  • Cleaning and maintaining a safe and hygienic kitchen environment including preparation, cooking and storage areas
  • Completing food safety management system documentation
  • Checking and reporting food items and commodity stock levels following stock rotation systems
  • Operating and cleaning specialist kitchen equipment following safe handling procedures
  • Receiving and checking internal and external deliveries of food items, equipment and chemicals and storing them correctly
  • Working with others to ensure dishes produced are of high quality, delivered on time and to the standard required
  • Contributing to reviewing and refreshing menus and improving the culinary offer

The training you will be getting

  • Upon completion you will receive a Commis Chef Level 2 qualification
  • Functional skills maths and English if required
  • Training will take place one day a week at Strode College
  • Strode College will be managing the applications for this vacancy

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

  • The expected career progression after this apprenticeship will be working towards becoming a Chef de Partie
