You will be learning the on-site skills required by assisting seasoned lead engineers to undertake network installations in full. You will also learn how to use hand tools along with drills and access equipment for working at height.

What you will do in your working day

  • Undertake the installation and termination of Cat5e Cat6/7 UTP, STP, FTP Cable and associated patch panel and outlets. 
  • Single Mode and Multimode Fibre Optic installation and spliced termination into patch panels. 
  • Siting and Installation of Floor standing and wall mounted network cabinets.
  • Working with lead engineers on numerous customer sites ranging from education through to food manufacturing with Data network, containment, cabinet, IPCCTV and door access installations. 

The training you will be getting

You will work towards a Level 3 Network Cable Installer Apprenticeship delivered by VQ Solutions. 

During this apprenticeship, you will develop a portfolio, attend block courses and have regular reviews. All apprenticeship work will be completed during working hours.

You will also gain IPAF and Harness and Lanyard use & Inspection (MEWPS are used on a lot of our installations) through the employer. 

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

On completion of the apprenticeship a full-time position will be offered by the company as a Data Engineer with internal progression.
