What you will do in your working day

The role entails flexible working hours that requires an early start daily and can sometimes include both evening and weekend work in and around the Redditch area.

The Roles and Responsibilities can include:

  • Installing, servicing and decommissioning educational and business audio visual systems
  • Installing and testing copper and fibre cabling solutions
  • Installing and commissioning wireless network solutions
  • Testing and terminating cables using a FLUKE tester
  • Server Rack installation, decant, relocation and decommissioning
  • Identifying and resolving cable errors / issues
  • Installing and commissioning IP security and surveillance network solutions (i.e. CCTV systems)
  • Daily written processes such as site audit or survey documents, timesheets, expenses, etc to be completed on time

The training you will be getting

Working to gain the BCS qualification Information Communications Technician Level 3.

The instructor leads a live online training session so you can learn at your own pace and in the comfort of your own home or office. A full training schedule is provided upon a confirmed start date; however, training is typically 1 day per week.

Things to consider

For any hours worked at the weekend the engineer would get double time pay. This type of work is based on volunteering, however, we would expect all members of staff to volunteer at some stage during the year so to spread the work around. There may also be some out of hours work in the week, as above, but this would get paid on 1.5 time hourly rate.
