What you will do in your working day

  • Work as part of our team; responsible for the day to day care & maintenance of the horses.
  • Carry out all normal yard duties to an industry standard; mucking out, feeding, grooming, tacking up and tack cleaning.
  • Carry out show prep including plating, clipping/trimming and washing off.
  • Assist with the movement of horses either turning out and bringing in or loading/unloading.
  • There will be opportunities to ride & travel for the right candidate.

The training you will be getting

  • Full training to be provided by the employer and KEITS at the place of employment.
  • The applicant will be working towards and gain a Level 2 Equine Groom Apprenticeship
  • The learner will be allocated an industry specific training consultant who will provide both remote and on site visits throughout the apprenticeship.

  • Ideally the employer would like to keep someone on and watch them further their skills and develop in this team to a specialist area.

About the employer

David Britnell is a 5* International Event Rider and BHS Accredited Professional Coach specialising in the backing of young horses and producing through the levels of eventing to 5*. Based just outside Cambridge on our beautiful 26 box yard with 50 acres including 2 arenas, grass canter track and xc training fields with water complex we are set up perfectly for training our event horses. As well as the event horses we also offer luxury full livery.
