Potter Street Academy are looking to appoint an Apprentice to work in our EYFS Classrooms, supporting four- and five-Year-olds. You will be school based for 4 days per week and attend college for 1 day a week, initially working towards Level 2 qualification. If successful there will be an opportunity to move onto and gain Level 3 qualifications.

What you will do in your working day

Key responsibilities:

  • To work in partnership with class teachers to support learning in line with the national curriculum, codes of practice and School policies and procedures

Duties:

  • Setting up the learning environment 
  • Working with groups of children in learning activities 
  • Supporting individual pupils with SEND or who have English as an additional language
  • Supporting child-initiated play
  • Supervising children at the start and end of the day
  • Supporting toileting 

The training you will be getting

  • Harlow College has an outstanding team of EYP training staff and assessors with wide experience and knowledge. We work closely with employers to ensure apprentices develop appropriate knowledge, skills and behaviours for the workplace setting and to meet the needs of the Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard
  • The Early Years Practitioner Apprentice will be interacting with parents, children, colleagues and wider multi agency professionals and partners such as health visitors, social workers and speech and language therapists
  • The apprentice will undergo all checks as per the EYFS requirements to ensure suitability to work with children. Due to the nature and level of responsibility it is not anticipated that the role would have any budgetary or leadership responsibilities
  • You will develop skills for the care and education of 0-5yr olds in early years settings and gaining practical and theoretical knowledge covering a variety of topics to include child development, health and safety, safeguarding and inclusion
