What will the apprentice be doing?

Main duties will include:

  • Supporting and engaging with different parts of the organisation and interacting with internal or external customers
  • Working to increase efficiency by supporting and working across teams, as well as helping to resolve issues
  • Using IT packages and systems (including Microsoft Office) to write letters, emails, proposals, as well as to record and analyse data
  • Updating and reviewing databases, ensuring information is recorded accurately
  • Assisting with drafting correspondence, writing reports, and inputting/ reviewing work
  • Maintaining records and files, whilst handling confidential information in compliance with organisational procedures and data protection
  • Maintaining positive relationships within the team and across the organisation, promoting collaborative working
  • Communicating with internal and external customers, either in person, on the telephone, in writing or on digital platforms
  • Assisting with queries from inside and outside the organisation, while representing the organisation
  • Reviewing processes and providing suggestions for improvements, sharing administrative best-practice across the organisation
  • Managing work priorities and time to meet deadlines and to complete tasks effectively, while managing expectations
  • Organising meetings and events, taking minutes and action logs as needed
  • Assisting with project management, including helping to plan, monitor and report on projects

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

For the full apprenticeship, learners will complete:

  • Level 3 Business Administrator Apprenticeship Standard
  • Level 2 Functional Skills in English
  • Level 2 Functional Skills in maths

Apprentices must pass their Level 2 Functional Skills qualifications before they enter the gateway to the End Point Assessment (EPA).

For the End Point Assessment, apprentices will undertake a knowledge test, portfolio-based interview and project presentation.

Apprentices must attend college sessions once a week (term-time) at the Ipswich Road campus, located near Norwich city centre.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

  • A position may be available for the right candidate following successful completion of the apprenticeship. The business is looking for somebody who wants to develop and gain a full-time position following their apprenticeship

Things to consider

Apprentices who do not have the entry grades will be expected to attend additional Functional Skills sessions- these may fall on a separate day to the usual college delivery. Applicants who are currently undertaking or sitting GCSEs should include their predicted grades on their application. If successful for this position, you will be offered a conditional place on the apprenticeship, subject to you meeting the entry requirements listed above.
