Our apprentice will be trained in property maintenance, ensuring all aspects of the property are kept in a safe working condition. The main purpose of the role is to work with the team to learn new skills in order to carry out maintenance on our properties and their grounds to ensure our service users live in safe and comfortable accommodations.

What will the apprentice be doing?

  • Learn new skills in all aspects of repairs and maintenance of properties & grounds
  • Moving furniture and equipment
  • Ability to learn new basic repairs skills including painting & decorating work, gardening and delivering these on site
  • Carry out any other duties that may be required by the organisation such as garden maintenance
  • You will work within a team and be self-motivated in order to achieve Maples's goals of supporting clients to live independently
  • You will be passionate about this work and willing to learn new skills in all areas of maintenance

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Level 2 Property Maintenance Operative apprenticeship standard, which includes:

  • Level 1/2 Functional Skills in maths and English (if required)
  • End-Point Assessment (EPA)
  • You will work alongside a workplace mentor to successfully learn the knowledge skills and behaviours in order to be successful in the role

This apprenticeship programme is assessed via end point assessment, which includes undertaking a project, and a conducting a professional discussion about the competencies you have gained with an external assessment agency.

Things to consider

Preferably physically fit with experience of working in a physically demanding environment as it is a physical demanding job. Preferably have basic knowledge and experience in a similar role. Preferably over the age of 18 as may be working more than 37.5 hours a week, but will be discussed at interview.
