What will the apprentice be doing?

This is a varied role, working as a support function for Quality, Environmental, Project and Continuous Improvement departments.

Duties include (but are not limited to):

o   Organise and govern Internal Audit schedule:

  • Ensure schedule is adhered to
  • Support Internal auditors where required
  • Conduct Internal audits
  • Assist with supplier & external audits

o   Review documentation and control documents & records within QMS:

  • Ensure regular review with department heads
  • Ensure controlled and working copies are within QMS and readily available
  • Introduce new documents and records as required

o   Carry out Q.A. on Standard Operating Procedures:

  • Review SOPs as part of wider steering group
  • Introduce into QMS for control
  • Assist with writing of SOPs
  • Assist with training related to Quality & Environmental awareness
  • Assist with Root Cause Analysis (RCA) of Quality complaints

o   Assist with Tiered meeting preparation/delivery:

  • KPIs, Metrics, analysis
  • Maintain weekly & monthly metric boards
  • Complete quality questionnaires as required

This is not an exhaustive list, and the individual would need to undertake other tasks deemed necessary.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • Full Engineering Technician Level 3 Standard Apprenticeship
  • First year will be full time college and the remainder will be day release

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

We aim to successfully train and develop an applicant in all areas of the Quality, Environmental and Continuous Improvement department.

We are committed to the continuous development of our people and on successful completion of this standard, will discuss further development opportunities to meet the needs of the business and individual.

There is the potential for a permanent position at the end of the 48 month programme, providing good measurable progress is made throughout.
