What will the apprentice be doing?

  • Assembling & dismantling electric motors, pumps and gearbox units via on the job training

  • Testing electric motors, pumps & gearbox units via on the job training

  • Learning to rewind electric motors

  • High and low Voltage motors (AC & DC) & generators 

  • Some machine shop training

  • Learning about the day to day running of the company

  • Recording information on the relevant paperwork & IT systems

  • Identifying spare parts & components

  • Perform any other duties within your capabilities as directed by the Workshop Supervisor or Manager

  • Turning and milling 

  • Engineering maths

  • Engineering environmental health and safety

  • Maintenance engineering principles

  • Maintenance of mechanical systems

  • Engineering communication

  • Producing engineering drawings to include electrical and electronic circuits, using CAD and drawing boards

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • You will achieve a L3 Engineering technician apprenticeship standard, pathway Mechatronics Maintenance Technician
  • Functional Skills if required
  • You will attend Strode College one day a week for your training
  • Strode College will be managing the applications for this course

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

A full time role with further training, may be available for the right candidate.

Rotamec was formed in May 2000 to service industry in the field of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering. Initially set up as a rewind and repair company, in 2003 Rotamec incorporated a transmission side of the business so as to be able to provide a complete package to industry. Initially focussing on motor rewind and electro-mechanical repair, Rotamec has evolved with the times encompassing new technology, establishing a successful sales operation and meeting the diverse demands of its customers head on. Rotamec became members of the AEMT in 2002 and shortly afterwards achieved ISO 9001 and UKAS accreditation. Today Rotamec’s team of engineers undertake in-house training provided by the main manufacturers in the industry. Therefore in the event of a breakdown they can offer the customer the option of repair or supply a replacement unit with access to nationwide stocks. Rotamec also provide an Asset Management service enabling its customers to control their maintenance costs and fully focus on their business.
