What will the apprentice be doing?
Avonmouth Engineering Services Ltd are a rapid response, full scope supplier of electromechanical products and services. Providing engineering services, new equipment, workshop services, site services and parts for HV/MV/LV motors and generators, pumps, gearboxes and other rotating machinery.
Task and Training details:
To machine and manufacture/repair engineering components for customers of Avonmouth Engineering Services from drawings, samples or instructions.
Working in a high pace environment.
- Machine setting
- Manufacturing components to tight tolerance
- Using manual centre lathes
- Using manual milling machines
- Using slotting machines
- Using borer’s
- Operate a variety of engineering machine tools in accordance with current H&S legislation
- Produce work that is of a good standard in a timely manner
- Be flexible in consideration of working hours
- Carry out self-inspection of work before passing to customer
- Self-motivation to work on own or as a team, as required
- Work in a clean and safe manner, keeping tidy as you go
- All other reasonable tasks and duties as and when required
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
Machining Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard:
All elements of the role will be taught through the established processes of in-house learning and an engineering qualification with BEMA/Swatpro.
- Year 1 - BEMA training centre, Yate
- Year 2 - Avonmouth Engineering Services Ltd and day release to BEMA training centre
- Year 3 onwards - Employer
