We are looking for a dental nurse apprentice to work in our small private dental practice in the heart of the New Forest. The training will consist of 3 full days in practice and one day at college. You will be supported by a practice who has helped 3 other students complete their apprenticeship. You will be taught how to assist a dentist and hygienist in all apsects of their work, plus more.

What will the apprentice be doing?

  • You will spend 3 days in practice and 1 day in college every week. You will have Fridays off to complete any coursework from college
  • You will be taught how to assist a dentist and hygienist in all apsects of their work. This will include looking after the patient, taking accurate notes, assisting the clinician with placement of simple or complex restorations, dentures, root canal treatment and surgery
  • You will be taught how to carry out thorough decontamination of the surgery and all instruments used
  • You will learn basic reception skills and how to use a dental software package
  • You will be taught how to develop digital x rays

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • You will be working for a Level 3 Dental Nursing Qualification
  • You will work in practice in Lyndhurst, Hampshire, 3 days a week and 1 day a week at Eastleigh College, Hampshire

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

  • 2 Years training to become a qualified dental nurse
  • Continued professional development is a required part of working as a dental nurse and mainaining your registration with the General Dental Council
  • The opportunity to complete additional training in subjects such as radiography, impression taking, oral health education, implantology/orthodontic nursing etc.
