What will the apprentice be doing?
Support to Pupils, Parents and the Community:
- Support the receptionist in dealing with reception/visitor matters
- To answer the telephone in a timely manner
- Ensure telephone messages are responded to effectively
- Liaise closely with parents to ensure effective home/school communication
Support to Other Staff:
- Provide administrative, financial and organisational support to other staff
- Reprographic support, including ordering of stock where necessary
- Assist with design and display work including production of brochures, event programmes, posters, banners and displays
- Support to School (this list is not exhaustive and should reflect the ethos of the school)
- Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young persons you come into contact with
- Comply and assist with the development of policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person
- Be aware of, support and ensure equal opportunities for all
- Contribute to the overall ethos/work/aims of the school
- Establish constructive relationships and communicate with other agencies/professionals
- Attend and participate in regular meetings
- Participate in training and other learning activities and performance development as required
- Recognise own strengths and areas of expertise and use these to advise and support others

- This apprenticeship standard is at Level 3 (A Level). Where a business administrator has not already achieved Functional Level 2 English and maths, they must do so before taking the end-point assessment
- The administration role may be a gateway to further career opportunities, such as management or senior support roles
