What will the apprentice be doing?

  • Provide telephone cover for the office taking messages and responding to enquires, from members of the public, Councillors, contractors and other Council departments, to ensure a high level of customer service is delivered
  • Administer the “general waste enquiries”, “report it” and “Fix my street” requests from businesses and residents
  • Ensuring appropriate close down on reports once completed.  Respond to businesses and residents with appropriate action by telephone and email as required
  • Provide general administrative support, such as photocopying, data inputting, scanning, laminating, envelope stuffing and word processing
  • Take minutes at meetings
  • Collect, open and distribute the post
  • Training on the job will be provided with the chance to also attend corporate training sessions

  • Customer Service Practitioner Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard
  • The apprenticeship will be delivered as a combination of face to face and online
  • Functional skills in maths and English if required

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

The position is fixed term but there may be opportunity to apply for a vacant position should it be available.

Things to consider

The postholder will be based in the operational depot sites in Bath and Keynsham. There may also be a requirement to work at The Civic Centre, Keynsham and other locations within the council as required. Interviews will commence on the 25th July 2023.
