What will the apprentice be doing?

The successful apprentice will receive full on the job and college taught training and learn how to undergo the following responsibilities over the length of the apprenticeship.

Duties will include:

  • Programming, setting and operating CNC machining and turning centres
  • Being able to read and understand engineering drawings including geometric tolerances
  • Be able to change & adjust machine offsets to maintain drawing tolerances
  • Able to prove out new programs safely
  • Able to work without constant supervision
  • 4 Axis turning and milling experience an advantage

Daily Job Tasks:

  • Strictly adhere to client job specification and ensure good quality work
  • Measure all parts accurately
  • Keep workbench and work area clean and tidy in line with five principles
  • Troubleshoot machine problems to determine actual faults

  • Machining Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard
  • Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Machining) (Development Technical Knowledge)
  • On completion of the apprenticeship you will receive a relevant level of professional registration

  • After your apprenticeship you will be offered a position as a fully skilled CNC programmer/Setter/Operator
