What will the apprentice be doing?

  • Ensure that all children attending the setting are kept safe and receive rich and stimulating play experiences appropriate to their age and stage of development
  • Assist with the care and supervision of the children with regard to their physical, emotional and intellectual needs
  • Play a part in their education, health and wellbeing and be able to build and maintain close working relationships with parents and colleagues
  • Inspire, plan and create learning activities for children under the EYFS curriculum, including outdoor activities
  • Observe and keep an up-to-date record of achievement files on key children, for parents/carers, including learning logs and personal profiles
  • Respect the confidentiality of information received
  • Support all staff and actively engage as a positive member of the team

Things to consider

Apprenticeship offers are subject to two references. You will need to consider transport to and from venues. You will also be required to undertake an enhanced DBS check performed by the employer.

About the employer

Our nursery is part of the Wessex Learning Trust. We are on the same site as Wedmore First School Academy and as such we work together with the reception class. We offer a warm, calming environment within our own building. Our Nursery offers lots of opportunities for children to explore, investigate and develop their creativity within a calming learning environment. Our outdoor environment provides both a hardstanding and a natural area, where children can enjoy a range of physical, creative and sensory activities. We also have use of the amenities within the school, this allows us to run sessions on music and movement, team games, drama and PE. We also run some Forest School sessions and sports activities on the school outside area.
