What you will do in your working day

Work rider/groom Come and join our successful Group 1 winning Flat yard on the Berkshire borders. We have a friendly team and a great bunch of horses for 2023 season. We are looking for experienced work riders, we would consider someone less experienced who rides well. The right candidate must have a good work ethic and be able to turn out horses to a high standard. We can offer the successful applicant:

The apprenticeship provides a solid introduction to the racing industry, and also fulfills the criteria from the BHA to enable you to apply for a jockey licence. All training and learning will take place at Eve Johnson Houghton, within your paid working hours.

The training you will be getting

  • A level 2 certificate will be awarded on successful completion of the apprenticeship
  • All training will take place within the workplace
  • Your dedicated trainer coach will visit you at work every 4 weeks.

Ongoing employment - career development is encouraged and staff have previously been enrolled onto various courses, ie: Management course for Supervisory Staff (Head Person)
