What will the apprentice be doing?
You will be learning to:
- Run your own section
- Manage your time carefully
- Complete your work to exacting standards with the guidance from experienced chefs
Duties include:
- Food preparation including basic knife skills
- Working alongside trained chefs to gain cooking skills and knowledge
- Making sure the kitchen is clean, tidy and free of hazards
- Plating up meals in a presentable and creative manner in line with menu specifications
- Getting food out to customers in a timely manner
Training on all sections of the kitchen as well as:
- Food hygiene
- Stock rotation
- Menu planning
- Costing
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
The apprenticeship training is delivered through a combination of workplace learning and regular college attendance. This training will teach you the knowledge, skills and behaviours set out in the Commis Chef Level 2 standard. On completion the apprentice will receive Commis Chef Level 2 qualification. Functional Skills in maths and English may also be required depending on current level.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
